Mr. Johns is a senior executive with experience leading
multiple financial and cultural turnarounds for both start-up firms and
industry leaders such as IBM, Dataproducts and Harris Corporation, and
has forged partnerships with the Fortune 500 companies Lexmark
International and Apple Computer. He has successfully delivered results
in diverse international situations by driving change and positively
impacting IT, communications, business services and consumer products
industries through his management and/or board director positions.
As an executive in the IT industry, Mr. Johns turned around failing
businesses and transformed lackluster performers into stars. In one
case, his leadership resulted in doubling revenues in four years while
increasing profits six times. At another company, he reversed the
decline of an unprofitable $100M business and in seven years increased
revenues to over $600M, with profits averaging over $6M per employee
through a unique international outsourcing model.
Mr. Johns’ forte is developing strong teams with uncompromising standards
of excellence and integrity that use creative ideas to achieve
outstanding results, with a particular focus on innovative marketing
programs. Mr. Johns has exceptional analytical skills and an ability to
concentrate on fundamental problems rather than chasing symptoms – which
is often the cause of company failures.
In his Navy career, Joe Johns demonstrated and strengthened his natural
leadership skills – from achievements as a student leader at the U.S.
Naval Academy, while serving as an officer on nuclear submarines,
through his retirement as a senior officer from the Naval Reserves. He
is a graduate of the Navy Nuclear Power School and of M.I.T.’s Sloan
School of Management.
Mr. Johns has served on company boards of directors in the United States,
Mexico and China, and has managed international sales forces as well as
factories in several countries.
