Richard Munro has 25 years of experience as an international business leader and strategic advisor. Bringing effective leadership to under-performing businesses and transforming mediocrity into peak performance, his successes have been measured by outstanding growth in revenue and market share, profits, return on capital employed and shareholder value. Mr. Munro has held CEO, CFO and COO positions together with CRO and strategic advisory roles. He is recognized as being highly effective in identifying the problems creating business underperformance and financial distress, and in quickly implementing practical operational solutions.

Richard’s expertise spans sales and marketing, distribution, retail, franchising, and service and manufacturing companies. He has worked with many international consumer brands including Fujifilm, Ricoh, America’s Cup Yachting, RJR Nabisco, Gestetner, Toshiba, Jantzen Trilux and Naturade.

Mr. Munro's outstanding business achievements include: leading an iconic 80-year old nutraceutical public company as transitional CEO through a successful Chapter 11 reorganization and confirmed Plan after eight years of prior losses; the successful turnaround of a Hispanic consumer snack foods manufacturer for a private equity group by implementing lean manufacturing processes, restructuring distribution and producing 30% revenue growth in six months; effectively managing the return on capital in excess of 30% pa over six years with Fujifilm, achieving market leadership over Kodak in five out of seven key categories; leading the turnaround of an architectural lighting business from near bankruptcy to profitability and out of bank special assets within six months; managing a successful team that turned around an unprofitable HMO entity to breakeven in nine months; creating and implementing value creation strategies for a manufacturer and marketer of branded safety cutters, increasing profitability by 100% and positioning owners to sell the company 24 months later for twice the prior valuation, and, due to his efforts as the new CEO of a national specialty retailer, effecting a 25% increase in sales growth and the turnaround from a ten year loss history to budget profit in only 12 months.

Richard is a professional member of both the AICPA and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, and currently serves on the Board of the highly regarded Forum for Corporate Directors. He is a former Board member and Audit Committee Chair of Orange County Head Start Inc., and former Board and Audit Committee member of Naturade Inc. (NRDC:OTCBB). He has been a guest lecturer to graduate and undergraduate programs on subjects including establishing a business, turnaround management and governance in small to mid-market businesses, and he annually participates in the University of California Irvine MBA student mentoring program.

Mr. Munro is a proud dual citizen of the United States and New Zealand. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in business strategy from Auckland University, a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Canterbury University and is a Chartered Accountant (CA) of New Zealand.
